Situated on the Parsons Nature Reserve in the Mopani region, approximately 40km north of Hoedspruit and only a 4km game drive away from the banks of the Oliphant’s River. Parsons Nature Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. This unspoiled corner of South Africa is renowned for its abundance of wildlife, mountainous scenery, indigenous forests, cascading waterfalls and diverse cultures.
With the possibility of having the Big 5 on your doorstep and an abundance of bird life,go on a Game Drive or Walk (accompanied by the very experienced ranger and owner Keith) , promising you much more than just a game viewing experience. Go on the early morning or late afternoon and take in the breathtaking views of the Olifants River Valley whilst sipping on a refreshment and savouring the local Snacks
The Phalaborwa Gate is only 44km away and if you have your own vehicle this is a great self drive excursion possibility. You see tribes of elephants, buffalos, zebras....a really cool experience!
If you have enough time you should also drive along the Panorama Route and see the fantastic Blyde River Canyon!

The catered accommodation at Raptor Retreat is some of the best the industry has to offer, especially in terms of price/quality!
Their are two private lodges: the Elephant Lodge and the Buffalo Lodge, wheir we were sleeping in the heavenly beds! Each air-conditioned room has high thatched ceilings and a huge, built-in king-size bed as well as a large sliding door that opens onto a private deck with double recliners. Slip into your own splash pool and cool off under the hot African sun whilst watching game graze nearby.
Complimentary teas and coffees are provided as well as a fully stocked bar fridge. On request, lunch can be served on your private deck at an additional cost. The open-plan wet bathroom features sliding doors, duel basins, a large shower and bath. Screens are strategically placed to ensure privacy and complimentary toiletries of superior quality are provided.
